I started Nordic Walking following arthroscopies on both knees in my late forties. I wanted to take an holistic approach to building up my muscle strength and liked the idea of a walking technique that takes strain away from the legs and gives the upper body a good workout too.
Christiane’s introductory sessions were informative and fun and I really enjoyed the monthly Saturday walks. When my working commitments decreased I was able to get out more in the week and soon found myself enjoying the regular company of people I’ve come to regard as friends, not just walking companions.
As well as fulfilling my aim of keeping mobile without taking painkillers, Nordic Walking means fresh air, discovering more of our fantastic countryside, interesting conversations and great exercise, all without any pressure. You turn up as and when you can and are always made welcome, whether two or a dozen people are heading out that day. I can’t recommend it enough!
